Message from the Executive Director

The well-being and safety of children and youth is our primary focus. Together with our community, we strive to protect children and youth and strengthen families.

Currently, the way in which we deliver essential child welfare services has been impacted by COVID-19. The health and well-being of our community, staff, caregivers, families and children and youth in our care are our primary concern. We continue to closely follow recommendations from public health officials, which include the following practices:

  • Daily meetings are being held between our emergency preparedness leadership, supervisors and staff teams to take the necessary measures, as the agency is monitoring recommendations and taking direction from Brant County Health Unit and Health Canada.
  • Increased cleaning and disinfecting has and is being implemented as recommended by our local health authority Brant County Health Unit.
  • To reduce person-to-person contact, visitors to our site locations have been restricted for at least the next three weeks and health screening questions will be asked.
  • Signage has been posted for visitors, handwashing and other health protocols; hand sanitizer is available throughout the building.
  • Infection prevention measures have been implemented through social distancing practices and work from home where possible.
  • Youth programming, caregiver training and support groups will be on hold until further notice.
  • Meetings are being rescheduled or being held in a virtual format.
  • Staff who continue to work from home are available via phone and email.

Front line protection services remain available at all times to ensure our delivery of essential services. All urgent child protection concerns should be directed to our main phone line 519-753-8681.

Updates will be posted on our social media and website as more information becomes available. Stay informed by following us on Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe and ask for help when you need it.

Executive Director
