Communication to Community Partners

February 22, 2021 – BRANTFORD

To Our Valued Community Partners & Stakeholders,

I am writing to provide an update on the recruitment of Board Members for Brant Family and Children’s Services (Brant FACS). I am excited to let you know that we are moving forward with the recruitment of Board members this month. After consulting with community leaders, we have established a Brant Community Governance Selection Panel. This Panel is in the process of interviewing and vetting potential interested board candidates. Upon completion of the interviews, the panel will make recommendations to me regarding the composition of the new Board of Directors. The Committee is comprised of the following people:

Jane Angus – Chief Executive Officer of Contact Brant
Flora Ennis – Director of Services and Systems Planning, Woodview Mental Health and Autism
Rachelle Ingrao – Director of Health and Social Services, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation
Jill Esposto – Director of Service and Amalgamation Planning Lead – Brant FACS
Nancy Dolson – Executive Assistant – Brant FACS
Susan Bihun – Amalgamation Consultant (Osborne Group – ex-officio member)

Candidates recommended by this Panel will form a Board of six community members to provide their input into the amalgamation process, as we continue to work with the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk (CASHN). Should a decision be made to amalgamate, the Brant FACS Board will continue to work alongside the CASHN Board of Directors to oversee the amalgamation planning and implementation. These six members will then become members of the Board of Directors of the new agency. If a decision is made not to amalgamate, these six members will continue as members of a new Brant FACS Board of Directors and additional members will be recruited to form a full governance Board.

To ensure representation from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, who we serve in addition to Brantford and Brant County, Chief Stacey Laforme has appointed Rachelle Ingrao to this Board of six. Welcome Rachelle. We are also delighted to have received numerous excellent suggestions of potential candidates through our community network.

I will continue to provide updates related the recruitment of Board members for Brant FACS. As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at Sally.Johnson@brantfacs.ca or at 519-753-8681, ext. 222.
