Supporting Statement on Indigenous Services

Brant Family and Children’s Services supports the development and continued self-determination of Indigenous peoples and child welfare agencies.

To provide a historical perspective, documents produced during the first review of Indigenous child welfare agencies in Northern Ontario (2000) are accessible by clicking on the links below. This report was prepared for a previous government. Although it was not officially released, the information was made public through a Freedom of Information request. We encourage everyone to read the documents as it is hoped that the review will offer some ideas for the future development of Indigenous child welfare agencies. This report is also provided, in its entirety, to honour the dedication and work of Vern Morrisette and Ruth Roulette, two Indigenous child welfare professionals who sacrificed so much to further the cause of their peoples.
