Youth Programs & Events

A number of programs and events are specifically designed and offered to youth who are in care or who have recently left care.  Some are organized and led by Youth themselves.


Virtual Hangouts for Kids Aged 6-12 (June 22, 2021)

The first Take5 community-building event for the Grand River Zone will be taking place June 22, 2021.  Virtual Hangouts for Kids Aged 6 – 12, will be hosted by our Take5 partner, the Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO) and facilitated by professional child care professionals.  Watch for more events to come.

Kids Holiday Store (December)

  • Pick out a gift for the special adults in your life
  • .25 per gift
  • Gifts and quarters are provided through donations


Summer Camps (July-August)

A number of residential and day camps are offered each summer via funding provided by the Brant FACS Foundation to children in Extended Society Care and Interim Society Care, children in Customary Care, kin bio and kin service children, and children in the community who are receiving protection services.   When needed, one to one support may be provided through the use of Agency volunteers.  Examples of camps offered in the past are:

Residential Camps:  Camp Brebouf, Camp Celtic, Camp Erin, Camp Oneida, Cave Springs Camp, Circle Square Ranch, O.P.P. Tim Hortons Camp, Rainbow Camp

Day Camps:  Ryerson Camp, Apps Mill Camp, Boys and Girls Club, City of Brant Parks & Rec Camps, Brant County Camps, Brantford Basketball Camp, Brantford Gymnastics Camp, Burford Daycare, YMCA, Carol’s Kitchen Dance Camp, Circle Square Ranch, Dance Discovery, Darkin Riding Stables, Don Warreners Karate camp, For Kicks Only, Glenhyrst Art Gallery Camp, Kidtastic, Laurier Camp, Montessori Camp, Norfolk County Camps, Pregnancy Resource Center, Pulsar Gymnastics, Royal City Soccer Camp, Six Nations Sports Camp, The Meeting House Church Camp.

Planning usually begins April / May.  Referrals and registration usually take place in May / June.  If you are interested in signing up for a camp that is not listed, we would be happy to investigate opportunities and make inquiries on your behalf.  Contact your worker or the Brant FACS Camp Coordinator for more information about registering for a camp.

Back to School Carnivals (August)

Start your school year off with confidence and some new school supplies.  Get a haircut, participate in some fun games, and enjoy some good food!  2018 carnivals are already being planned in the following neighbourhoods:

  • Aug. 15 – Branlyn (2-10 Buchanan)
  • Aug. 16 – Northland (56 Memorial)
  • Aug. 21 – Riverside (50 Pontiac)  CANCELLED due to rain, risk of thunder and high winds.  RESCHEDULED TO AUGUST 30th 
  • Aug. 22 – Slovak (144 Fifth)
  • Aug. 23 – Paris (15 Curtis Ave)
  • Aug. 27 – West Brant (62 Balfour)
  • Aug. 28 – Daleview (676 Grey)
  • Aug. 29 – Pearl St./Westglen combined (73/77 Pearl St.)
